TRON: Catalyst, which is this wild ride of an isometric adventure game, is crashing onto the scene soon—next week actually—on PS5 and Nintendo Switch. June 17, folks. Mark it. Not even sure why I’m this hyped, but here we are.
So, here’s the deal with TRON: Catalyst. We’re diving back into the whole TRON universe. Think about battling a bunch of different factions all wrapped up in some slick story by Bithell Games. You know them, right? They did Thomas Was Alone. Loved that one. Anyway—oh yeah, they also did TRON: Identity. Those who’ve played it might get what I mean.
You’re basically this character, Exo, with some crazy power called the Glitch. Sounds mysterious, right? It lets you fight stronger—more like an unexpected superpower. Light Cycles, Identity Discs—you know, the usual TRON goodies. But there’s this bad guy, Conn, trying to make your life difficult. He’s got his own agenda. Typical, right?
A quick diversion here—ever notice how game villains always have this mysterious backstory? Fascinates me, honestly. Back to the chaos, though…
Let’s talk features—and oh boy, they went big. A dynamic combat system where you can fight enemies either head-on or on a Light Cycle. They’ve got tricks up their sleeve like parrying and Disc kicks (kind of reminds me of a sports move). Collect those Data Shards to beef up your moves. Exploration time!
The narrative? Original as it comes, they say. Meet programs, uncover secrets, and it sounds like a real chase around the city. Playing as Exo, your life just, BAM—changes because of this weird package explosion. Then it’s all about being chased by peacekeepers who aren’t exactly peaceful.
And lest I forget—the world’s a bit glitchy. Literally. You’re running around in loops because of time glitches. Only you can see them, which might sound like a headache, but it’s probably more like a secret superpower once you get the hang of it. Secret areas, shortcuts—sounds fun, right?
The TRON world—think neon streets, some weirdo characters, and a revolution stirring. The music’s by Dan Le Sac and if that doesn’t make you want to dive in, I don’t know what will.
Disney’s TRON fans, or even newbies, this game could be wild. And just a bit of advice: finish the game. That’s what they say. So go on, race those Light Cycles. And well—good luck!
