Emerging from the remnants of PS Now, Sony launched its revamped PlayStation Plus in 2022, and it has garnered praise and success. The subscription service is divided into three tiers, with the Extra and Premium levels offering a vast library of games across multiple genres. Are you looking for a spine-tingling experience? PS Plus has an impressive selection of horror games. Want to team up with a buddy for some local co-op play? No worries, there are ample options for that too.

RPG enthusiasts will find plenty to love as well, with the inclusion of both Western and Japanese titles. Whether you’re into action, turn-based, shooter, open-world, or tactical RPGs, there’s something for everyone in the expansive PS Plus library. Here’s a guide to some of the best RPGs available on PS Plus, featuring genre staples accessible through the Premium tier.

As of November 16, 2024, Sony has unveiled the PS Plus Extra and Premium games for the month. While RPGs aren’t the main focus, there’s one notable title that’s worth checking out. These new additions become available starting November 19.

For clarity, each game’s entry notes its availability in the PS Plus Extra tier. Moreover, the listed gameplay length reflects the main story’s average duration from HowLongToBeat. To give newly added games extra visibility, they are highlighted at the top during their first month.

### 1. Dying Light 2: Stay Human

#### Parkour, Zombies, And Level Up

Released on February 4, 2022, with an average playtime of about 25 hours on HowLongToBeat, Dying Light 2 had a rocky start due to technical issues. However, subsequent updates by Techland have largely resolved these, improving the overall experience. Despite any lingering imperfections, the game has consistently been engaging due to its core gameplay.

Set in an open world overrun by zombies, the game excels in its fast-paced free-running mechanics. By building on the original’s concepts, the sequel emphasizes parkour, urging players to stay in motion as they traverse Villedor’s landscape both day and night. While the storyline and protagonist might not be groundbreaking, the gameplay is its standout feature.

Despite its main genre, Dying Light 2 incorporates RPG elements without being defined by them. Players can level up, choose weapons and armor, enhance abilities, complete various missions, and make decisions that affect the narrative and world. While it does tick the RPG box, its combat and movement are what truly shine.

### 2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

#### The Best Open-World RPG On PS Plus

CD Projekt Red’s magnum opus, released on May 19, 2015, is arguably one of the finest RPGs of its era, with gameplay lasting around 52 hours. Its charm and quality remain undiminished nearly a decade after launch.

Concluding Geralt’s saga, the 2015 installment is a dark fantasy benchmark, weaving immersive stories into a vibrant world. Though the main storyline is enthralling, The Witcher 3 excels with its side quests and mini-games like Gwent, setting a high bar for open-world RPGs.

Though not flawless, with divisive combat and some clunky mechanics, the game thrives in its world-building, character depth, and creative monster designs.

### 3. Bloodborne

#### The Best Soulslike Action RPG On PS Plus

Inspired by gothic horror legends like H.P. Lovecraft, FromSoftware’s Bloodborne, released on March 24, 2015, remains a daunting and rewarding RPG challenge, playable via PS Plus Premium and Extra.

Bloodborne, a beacon in the Soulslike genre, combines diverse combat builds, progression systems, and loot. Leaning more towards action RPG than its Dark Souls predecessor, it stands out with weapon forms and varied combat playstyles.

Praised for its gothic setting, demanding yet fair combat, epic boss encounters, and intriguing lore, Bloodborne is essential for any PlayStation RPG aficionado.

### 4. Disco Elysium – The Final Cut

#### A Dialogue-Driven Murder Mystery With Great Writing

Launched on October 15, 2019, by ZA/UM, this 23-hour-long narrative RPG, available on both Extra and Premium, charms players with its rich storytelling.

Disco Elysium breaks RPG norms, embracing dialogue over combat. This unique focus might surprise newcomers, but going in blind without spoilers can enhance the adventure. Players shape the narrative through choices that define the protagonist’s psyche and ideology.

### 5. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

#### Shows Its Age And Class

Released on March 20, 2006, and part of the Premium tier, this 30-hour RPG remains timeless. Oblivion helped popularize the Elder Scrolls series, setting the stage for Skyrim’s massive success.

Despite its dated visuals, Oblivion’s narrative depth, atmosphere, and unforgettable music keep it relevant. For those only familiar with Skyrim, this predecessor is a worthwhile journey.

### 6. Tales Of Arise/Vesperia

#### Two Fantastic Action JRPGs As Entry Points

The series, renowned in the JRPG realm for its real-time action combat, offers multiple standout entries with Symphonia, Vesperia, and Arise available on PS Plus Premium—and Arise also on Extra.

Vesperia’s 45-hour journey remains accessible and rewarding with its seasoned design and engaging battle system. Meanwhile, Arise, a 40-hour experience, serves as an ideal starting point, boasting strong combat, visuals, characters, and story—despite lacking co-op, a series hallmark.

### 7. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

#### A Revamped PS1 JRPG Classic

Reimagining an RPG legend, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, released on June 10, 2021, with about 33 hours of gameplay, reintroduces players to this epic saga with a modernized combat system integrating both action and turn-based strategy.

Intergrade enriches the PS5 experience with the “Intermission” DLC, featuring Yuffie and additional content, although the basic 2015 version is available to all on both premiums.

### 8. Scarlet Nexus

#### A Solid Action JRPG With Dual Protagonists

Debuting on June 25, 2021, and spanning 25 hours, Bandai’s action RPG blends elements of hack and slash with captivating narratives. It allows players to experience two different storylines, providing unique narratives and combat styles.

The game offers satisfying gameplay with a deep combat system. Scarlet Nexus may lack the renown of some franchises, but it remains a top-tier Extra JRPG title on the platform.

### 9. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

#### Blending RPG, Stealth, And FPS Elements

The August 23, 2016, release on Extra and Premium tiers provides a 16-hour, choice-driven narrative filled with RPG traits and flexible gameplay styles. In the shoes of Adam Jensen, players experience a gripping storyline, determining missions through varied approaches.

Known for its player-driven outcomes, Mankind Divided delivers dual playthrough experiences to fully appreciate its rich narrative and immersive world.

### 10. Remnant 2

#### Co-Op Action RPG With Soulslike Elements

Joining PS Plus in July 2024, this 20-hour cooperative RPG stands out with its focus on gunplay and replayability through varied Archetypes and randomized content. Remnant 2 expands on its predecessor, offering multi-layered gameplay that thrives in cooperative settings.

Players encounter diverse options through adaptive combat mechanics, various Archetypes, and strong narrative elements, making it a standout title designed primarily for teamwork.

### 11. The Legend Of Dragoon

#### A PS1 Cult Classic Arrives For PS Plus Premium Subscribers

The June 14, 2000, release finally reaches a broad audience via PS Plus Premium, offering a 50-hour gameplay experience. This adored JRPG shines with its turn-based system and interactive battle components, reminiscent of the era’s RPG offerings.

### 12. Dark Cloud 2

#### Endearing PS2 JRPG With Eternal Charm

Level-5’s gem, released on February 17, 2003, available on Premium, balances dungeon exploration and village growth tackiness over leveling. With a 50-hour quest, Dark Cloud 2 remains a delightful title with a novel approach to progression.

### 13. Ys 8: Lacrimosa Of Dana

#### Among The Very Best In Action RPG Combat

Released on September 12, 2017, this 38-hour game on Extra and Premium takes place on a resource-rich island, offering satisfying combat and unique character experiences. It merges solid narrative and exploration dynamics, establishing itself as an essential action JRPG.

### 14. Moonlighter

#### A Relaxing Shop Management And Dungeon-Crawling Hybrid

Appealing to those seeking a mellow yet challenging experience, this hybrid RPG offers 14 hours of gameplay on Extra and Premium tiers since May 29, 2018. It combines entrepreneurial elements with captivating dungeon exploration.

Its loop of gathering resources to upgrade shops keeps players engaged, while captivating pixel art enhances Moonlighter’s charm.

### 15. Fallout 3, New Vegas, & Fallout 4

#### Three Unique Games Excelling In Different Ways

Sony’s service includes major entries like Fallout 4, available on Extra, and Fallout 3 and New Vegas on Premium, offering varied core experiences. Fallout 4 provides smooth gunplay, whereas New Vegas and 3 offer rich narratives and RPG mechanics.

While New Vegas is a standout in role-playing design, Fallout 3 and 4 continue to immerse players in their expansive worlds with varied strengths—from combat to storytelling.

### 16. Cat Quest 1 & 2

#### Playful Action RPG Series With Universal Appeal

Compact but packed with fun, the Cat Quest series, with playtimes of 6 and 8 hours respectively, charms on both Extra and Premium. Its engaging mechanics cater to shorter gaming sessions without sacrificing depth or enjoyment.

Cat Quest streamlines RPG elements into an accessible yet satisfying adventure, topped with charming graphics and cooperative play in its sequel.

For fans of both immersive storylines and dynamic gameplay mechanics, this robust lineup on PS Plus is sure to please a wide range of RPG aficionados.
