It’s been a whirlwind of a year for No Man’s Sky. With six updates already in the bag, including the expansive Worlds Update, players have been busy exploring new horizons. The latest addition, The Cursed, launched just a couple of weeks ago, offering a haunting Halloween theme that’s been a hit among the community.
In game development, some features just take a bit longer to perfect. While some might come together in a matter of weeks or months, others can take years to truly shine. Today marks the introduction of some of those long-awaited features.
Cross-Save Support Across All Platforms
We are thrilled to unveil Cross-Save support for every platform out there, from PC to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and more. This massive update answers one of the community’s most persistent requests.
Imagine being able to pick up your game on different devices seamlessly. You can start on your console from the comfort of your living room, continue your progress on the go using your Switch or Steam Deck, then get back home and dive deeper with your powerful PC. Whether you’re playing in vivid Virtual Reality or enjoying a quick session on your handheld, this feature transforms the gaming experience.
Transferring save data between different platforms is no easy task, especially at the scale of No Man’s Sky. As our small team has discovered, the complexities grow with each new platform we support, and the longer gamers have been playing, the more challenging it gets. Our veteran players have been with us for many hours of gameplay, making this transition akin to moving house—lots of cherished items to carefully pack and relocate!
For this reason, we’ve been under the radar, setting up the technology necessary to make this happen over the last six months. Today, we’re starting to roll out Cross-Save to a select group of players. All No Man’s Sky adventurers can now link their accounts at the No Man’s Sky: Cross-Save website. As we gradually enable more users, many will soon enjoy picking up their journeys across a variety of platforms.
The Normandy Returns
At Hello Games, we have a deep love for sci-fi, and nothing captures that affection quite like the legendary Mass Effect series. To join the Mass Effect N7 celebrations, we’re excited to bring the renowned SSV Normandy SR1 back to the No Man’s Sky universe!
The Normandy first graced our game in 2021 during one of our initial expeditions, allowing players to add this iconic vessel to their fleet. Over the years, a growing number of newcomers to No Man’s Sky, including Switch players and our enthusiastic Chinese community, have coveted this sleek spaceship.
Just like in the Mass Effect games, the Normandy appears at just the right moment. For the next two weeks, we’re thrilled to offer players another chance to embark on a revamped version of the original mission, giving everyone the opportunity to add the Normandy to their collection.
A huge shoutout to our partners at EA and Bioware for making this possible. It’s been a remarkable year for No Man’s Sky, and being able to continue this shared journey with all of you is something we’re incredibly thankful for.
