So, here’s the thing about Star Wars Outlaws, right? It kinda stumbled out of the gate last summer. Like, you ever trip over nothing while walking? Yeah, that’s what it felt like. People have been asking, “Is it even worth diving into?” Honestly, if you’re itching to be a space rogue like Han Solo, well, why not give it a whirl?
Okay, let’s chat about the stuff people didn’t love at first. Those stealth missions? Yikes. Major buzzkill until they tweaked it in November 2024. Now, if you slip up and an Imperial trooper catches you in their sights, just think Danny DeVito with a blaster — go wild! The shooting parts are pretty rad. I mean, trying to sneak and then going all blaster-happy when things go sideways? Yeah, that was a highlight for me.
And once they ditched the insta-fail nonsense, the game’s a wild ride across the galaxy. You hop from planet to planet, and it’s the same ones you’ve seen in the movies — Kijimi, Cantonica, Tatooine. Strolling into Mos Eisley? Nostalgia trip, for sure. You can even poke around Jabba’s digs. Found some quirky little Easter eggs too, but I won’t spoil the fun.
Gotta be real, though; it’s not flawless. Typical Ubisoft game with a gazillion things to collect. But hey, if you’re not into some of the side stuff — like, I skipped those speeder races, no regrets — the game won’t force it on you. There’s enough cool climbing and shooting sections to keep you hooked anyway.
And oh man, Sabacc. Talk about an addiction. It’s this card game that’s like the lovechild of poker and blackjack. Seriously, could easily stand alone, like how Gwent did in The Witcher 3. I don’t normally buy DLCs — too many games, too little time, you feel? But their “Wild Card” mission had a Sabacc scene that was just too epic to ignore.
So, they dropped another DLC called “A Pirate’s Fortune.” Not sure if it’s the last one, but still, gives the game a fresh shot in the arm. Plus, it’s hitting the Nintendo Switch 2 soon, so you can zap and zoom around the galaxy anywhere, even between Mario Kart races.
If you tried it early on and noped out, or if you’re craving an open-world adventure, maybe circle back. Honestly, the Sabacc alone makes it tempting.
