Random Thoughts on the New Final Fantasy Tactics Collector’s Box
Okay, so Square Enix decided to celebrate Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles with a Collector’s Box. And guess what? It doesn’t even come with the game. I mean, really? You’re shelling out a couple hundred bucks, and then you’ve got to buy the game separately. But hey, collector’s editions and their quirks, right? People either love ’em or roll their eyes.
So, here’s the scoop. The big reveal happened on June 4th during the State of Play — two versions of the game: Classic, keeping that retro vibe but with a sprinkle of modern tweaks; and Enhanced, which means flashy new graphics and voiced dialogue. Fancy, but both need buying separately if you’re after that Collector’s Box.
The magical box appeared — not during the flashy PlayStation event, but sneakily on the Square Enix store website. Just a mere $200 (sarcasm definitely intended) gets you a Ramza Beoulve figure, some snazzy art cards, and a few Chocobo plushes. No game, though. Another $50 if you want to actually play it. And weirdly enough, this isn’t the first time. November’s Avowed Physical SteelBook also left out the game. These choices are head-scratchers, seriously.
What’s Inside This Drama-Inducing Box?
- Special art box
- Ramza Beoulve figure (yeah, he’s cool)
- Plush Chocobos: regular, black, and red (adorable trio)
- 12 Zodiac Stone magnets (because magnets are a thing now)
- Outlying Church pop-up art (pop-ups, remember them?)
- Some fancy art sheets
Quick detour: You could have snagged a bundle with the game included, but, surprise — sold out faster than a one-winged angel can fly. Will Square Enix bless us with more? Who knows. But, there’s always that Summer Game Fest tease on June 6. Cross your fingers or don’t — depends on your patience level.
Oh! And don’t miss the juicy State of Play updates — Astro Bot DualSense controllers are coming back in 2025. Better keep both eyes peeled for more collectible chaos.
So there it is, folks. A mashup of collectibles without the main course. Just another day in the world of gaming — where excitement and disappointment walk hand in hand.
