Alright, so here’s the thing. When Sony first hinted at this week’s State of Play, they didn’t really spill the beans. Seriously, it was like, “Okay, great, but what’s the deal?” PlayStation hasn’t exactly been overflowing with new titles this year, but some folks thought maybe—just maybe—Ghost of Yotei, the big hitter set for 2025 (yeah, I know it’s only 2023, but still), would pop up.
But then, boom, it kinda did this October. I mean, we’ve barely seen any gameplay to get pumped about, right?
Anyway, during the State of Play, Ghost of Yotei made a cameo. Blink, and you might’ve missed it, though. Sucker Punch, the developers, dropped this teeny teaser that basically left us all hungry for more. Like leaving the cinema right at the climax. Why do they do this to us?
But hey, hold on, because this snippet’s main gig was to say, “Hang tight; we’ve got a whole show coming just for Ghost of Tsushima’s sequel.” Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long, but they’re saying July. Yeah, I know, my patience is thin too.
So, in July—fingers and toes crossed for early in the month—we’re supposed to get a deeper dive into what’s cooking with Yotei’s gameplay. Apparently, it’s got evolved mechanics, exploration, combat—the whole shebang, according to the PlayStation Blog.
Okay, okay, so mark it: Ghost of Yotei hits PS5 on October 2, and if history repeats, in a couple of years, PC folks will get their shot too.
