So there we were, diving into Elden Ring Nightreign on Discord. Seriously, for two hours straight, everything was smooth. Not a hitch. I even told my pals the online issues were blown outta proportion. And just like that, karma laughed in my face.
Suddenly, matchmaking went nuts. Cancelled every time. Over fifteen mind-numbing minutes. We split, re-joined, swapped leaders like musical chairs. Even messed with FromSoftware’s awkward password system. By the time we made it back in, the game vibe? Gone. We were beyond drained. We figured, hey, let’s just start fresh.
Ha. Turns out, quitting the match? Not easy, unless you’re into penalties. Go back to the title screen and boom, they warn you. Your multiplayer privileges might vanish. Great. So what’d we do? Tried the ol’ simultaneous death trick — thinking a game-over could bail us out. But yeah, teamwork wasn’t on point. Every time one survived while others napped, it’d restart the whole mess. Three attempts and nothing. Exhausted.
Frustration levels maxed, we just hit exit. Title screen, whatever. But, plot twist — right back into the same cursed match. Saved progress, apparently. Thanks, game.
And then? Dropped us right into a blazing inferno. Literal flames. We just laughed. I mean, what else do you do? We ran straight in, trying to end it ourselves.
It’s wild, there’s no redo button, even if everyone wants it. I get why penalties are a thing — stops rage-quits, right? But when your whole squad wants out? It’s just dumb. This game already lacks coordination tools, so come on.
And the quirks don’t stop there. Before Nightreign, FromSoftware admits no two-player co-op. Balance issues, they said. So if you’re less than three players, they throw a random into your mix. What were they thinking? First patch already tried fixing solo mode but there’s still so much to smooth out.
Honestly, co-op needs way more shine. A feature to vote us back to the main hub would be epic. And matchmaking? Fix it, please. Asking us to check our internet settings is like a time warp back to 2008. Get it together, devs.
