Hey, so Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s top guy, was chatting up the processor for the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s supposed to hit the shelves on June 5. He had this big talk about how it’s all about “performance, intelligence, and beauty,” just right there in your hand. Pretty epic, right? Or maybe just some good PR spin — who knows.
Anyway, he popped up in this special episode of Nintendo’s “Creator’s Voice” thing. They don’t usually spill the beans on the technical stuff, so this was a bit like seeing a unicorn. And oh! They had this YouTube video, with a snazzy thumbnail, and all these promises about the new custom processor.
Huang was throwing terms around like “advanced graphics” and “ray-tracing” like it was candy. Fancy tech jargon that sounds cool if you’re into that sort of thing. Basically, he’s saying this chip is ten times better than the last one. And there’s some AI magic happening too, making games sharper and more alive. Real-time enhancements or something. The future is now!
Oh, right, so spec-wise — this isn’t my usual cup of tea, but here goes: Eight ARM Cortex A78C cores, Nvidia’s Ampere GPU – not the newest but still solid – and 12 gigs of this fancy LPDDR5X memory. There’s also 256GB of storage, which should be enough unless you hoard games. And yep, you can expand it with a microSD card up to 2TB. That’s a lot of Mario.
Now, there’s more to this video than specs. They did a bit of a tribute to Satoru Iwata. He was this big honcho at Nintendo, had a hand in the first Switch but didn’t live to see it launch. A touching moment, honestly.
Oh! The Switch 2 will set you back $449.99. Or you can splash out $499.99 for this Mario Kart bundle. If you’re quick with your pre-orders — they flew off the shelves. But some physical stores might have a few left on launch day.
And for the hardcore tech fans, Tom’s Hardware is the place to keep up with all this Nintendo craziness. They’re on Google News — just hit the Follow button if that’s your jam.
So, there you go. Nintendo and Nvidia working together to make our gaming thumbs happy. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype!
