Ok, so here we go. I’m diving into the chaotic whirl of Resident Evil’s story because, honestly, it’s like trying to piece together a shattered mirror. Seriously, even right from the start, who was the main protagonist officially—Chris or Jill? No clue. Now with the remakes, they’ve thrown more puzzle pieces on the table. Like, did you catch in the RE4 remake, Luis apparently now helped create Nemesis? Yep, that’s a thing. So, with Resident Evil Requiem, they better be careful about picking what sticks in the story.
Capcom had this big showcase where they talked about Resident Evil Requiem. The devs called it a “eulogy to those who came before.” Sounds pretty deep, right? It’s all about the folks who were there when the Raccoon City mess went down. But let’s be real, the city might not look the way fans remember it.
Now, Raccoon City is like its own character. It became a big deal back in Resident Evil 2, with all its cool spots like the police station that used to be a museum. I mean, RE fans have a softer spot for this place than they do for most characters. But when they did the remake for RE2, they had to reshape parts of it to fit their new style, so now there are two versions of the city.
And guess what, Resident Evil Requiem seems to be going with the remake vibe. It’s set 30 freaking years after RE2, but they are teasing us by showing some shots of the wrecked city. The RPD (that’s Raccoon Police Department for those not in the know) shows up in the trailer, all destroyed but kinda the same. The statue’s there, missing its head now (classic), and they moved the reception desk — details only a hardcore fan would care about.
Given the way the remakes have modernized stuff and fleshed out the city, it kinda makes sense for Requiem to follow their path. Anyway, I’m off to rewatch that trailer a few more times because, hey, it’s not like I can remember much else without visual aids.
