Okay, so here’s the thing. I don’t usually get pumped about remasters, but there’s something about Bravely Default coming back that just makes me fist-pump at the sky or something. Like, I remember when it was a thing way back on the 3DS. 2012. Good times. Maybe? Anyway, this isn’t to slam Switch 2’s coming lineup, which I’m sure is okay. It’s more like giving a nod, a small salute to Bravely Default’s awesomeness.
Now, I’m not the only one raving about it. There was this review in Pure Nintendo, 2014, right? Thomas Jones or whatever gave it a 10/10. Did carts even deserve a perfect score? Who knows, but he said it was this mix of old-school vibes with new stuff. You know, kind of like those throwback songs with modern beats. It worked. Sounds, visuals, characters—you name it, he loved it. It was like Square Enix found their magic wand or genie lamp back then.
Anyway—oh wait, right—I almost forgot. The 3DS eShop is kaput now, so getting your hands on this was like some Indiana Jones adventure. Plus, the StreetPass stuff was tied in. What even was that about? Like finding Lost Ark levels of complicated just to play. But hey, this new HD version is ditching the old tech issues. Say goodbye to StreetPass headaches. Wave hello to mini-games like Luxencheer Rhythm Catch. Whatever that is. And you can use Joy-Con controls, which sound futuristic somehow.
The visuals? They’re bumping it up a notch. High-def, crispy-clear scenes are coming, and maybe we won’t miss those old 3D shots. Hard to say, really. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough when we see the artwork samples.
And oh, costume changes. That job-based battle deal was my jam, people. The outfits were iconic, and I’m all for seeing that revamped. It’s like, one minute you’re a warrior, and the next you’re this mage in a cool hat.
All things considered—or whatever you want to call it—the Switch 2 release looks like it’s gonna be a blast from the past. A good one, too. Missed it back then? Now might be your chance to get on board.
You can dive into the story, battle system, and all that jazz at square-enix-games.com. Pre-orders are up on the Nintendo eShop for $39.99. June 5th is when you can experience it, lining up with the Switch 2 launch. So, mark your calendars or set a reminder on your phone. Do people still use reminders? No idea, but that’s another topic for another day.
