Whoa, so get this—Limited Run Games and Ancient Corporation are teaming up on this wild 16-bit game, Earthion, for the Nintendo Switch. I mean, can you believe we’re still getting these retro vibes? Anyway, it’s one of those space-shooter games where you’re Azusa Takahashi, some space pilot, flying through eight crazy levels. Pretty neat, right? Each level seems to have, like, its own little world with bosses that’ll probably give you a heart attack if you’re not careful. Or maybe that’s just me.
The team working on this is like a superstar squad or something. Ever heard of Makoto Wada? He did stuff like Gotta Protectors and Royal Anapoko Academy. And they’ve roped in Yuzo Koshiro for the tunes. That guy did the music for Streets of Rage—total nostalgia trip. Also, Mitsuhiro Arita sketched some art for this game. If you’ve checked out Marvel Comics or played Pokémon cards, you’ve seen his stuff. His art kinda pops out, almost like it’s alive. Does that even make sense?
So… what else? Oh yeah, they’ve spilled the beans on some cool features. Eight stages packed with action and enemies ready to chew you up if you let them. Koshiro’s offering us 27 fresh tracks and a bunch of sound effects—like, who even counts them? Anyway, the game’s packing multiple difficulty levels, a challenge mode for when you’re feeling brave, and some sort of CRT filter thingy to make the graphics look all vintage and stuff. And the passwords are back! Memories, right? There’s also this music player mode and you can even play bonus demos from when they were still trying to figure things out. Almost like peeking behind the curtain.
It’s coming digitally—Switch eShop and all that—before the year wraps up, supposedly. As if we don’t have enough to get excited about this year. Anyway, gotta dash—oh wait, forgot to mention: there’s a trailer out there somewhere too. I got sidetracked, figures. Have fun checking it out!
