The news—yeah, maybe you saw this coming—about prices going up. Again.
So, here’s the deal. Yesterday, folks in Canada got the heads-up about price “adjustments” for Switch 1 stuff—hardware, software, blah blah. But surprise, surprise, the eShop kinda spilled the beans early on Switch Online’s new pricing. Because who doesn’t love surprise price hikes, right?
Okay, so if you try renewing or snagging a Switch Online sub on the eShop, you’ll see these new prices in black and white. Why? Because the auto-renewal thing basically shoves it right in your face. Not subtle at all, but hey, at least you know. So, prices look like this now:
For one month, individual subs jump from $5 to $6 (ouch). Three months? $12 instead of $10. A whole year? That’ll be $30, up from $25. For families, a year goes to $50, up from $45. And if you’re the fancy type, the Individual 1 Year Expansion Pack is now $70 instead of $64. Family Expansion Pack’s gonna be $110, not $100.
Prices rounded up, just to make it easier to swallow. It’s about a 10-20% rise depending on what you’re going for. So yeah, not the best news. Anyway, where was I? Oh, right—the ever-rising cost of being a gamer, eh?
