Honestly, I never thought I’d be talking about Bloober Team and action-packed games in the same breath. They’ve always been the “hey, let’s hide behind this wall and pray the monster doesn’t see us” type. Except maybe Silent Hill 2 Remake, but even that was more like a side note. Now though, wow. Here comes “Cronos: The New Dawn,” and it’s flipping everything we thought we knew about them.
We’re not talking about just running around with a torch, either. This one’s got some real fight in it. So if you’re like me, and enjoy a good scare but kinda get tired of the whole “hide and seek” vibe, you’re in for a treat. Imagine—fighting back, not just cowering in the corner.
So, there was this gameplay reveal thing… or was it a showcase? Anyway, I remember watching it and the combat totally grabbed my attention. Initially, folks compared it to Dead Space. But the reality is, it’s way more layered than that. Picture this: enemies don’t just attack you; they sort of mash together into these gnarly super-enemies. Yeah, like evolving right there as you’re trying not to freak out. Sounds chaotic, right? It is!
The strategies here are interesting, too. Say you’re about to take down a baddie, but then, bam, another comes and absorbs the dead one. Now it’s stronger and about to mess up your day even more. So, suddenly you’re thinking, “Where can I fight these guys without turning them into mega-creatures?” It’s kind of intense in an awesome way.
Bloober’s been talking up some classic survival elements, too—running out of stuff, needing to make careful choices rather than blasting away like a lunatic. It’s survival, but with style.
I had a chat with the game’s directors a while back (at least I think it was them). They’re super excited about mixing the horror elements we all love with a chance to actually use your fists, metaphorically speaking. If you ask me, they’re really onto something cool with this one.
So when’s all this action hitting shelves? Good question. Your guess is as good as mine. They say sometime this fall. But who knows with game releases these days, right? Just keep an eye on your PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X/S—and hope we get our hands on it soon.
