Okay, so here’s what went down. Our crew from PlayStation Blog landed back in good ol’ LA, excited to dive into the Summer Game Fest Play Days. Did we get to mess around with some cool upcoming PS5 games? Oh, absolutely. Here’s the lowdown, straight from the buzzing floors of the event!
Crimson Desert – Arriving 2025 (yep, we gotta wait a bit)
Picture this: Publisher Pearl Abyss and developer Pearl Abyss (seeing double?) teaming up for something big on PS5. Crimson Desert isn’t just a game; it’s a whole epic saga. I ended up flailing around like a noob, chaining kicks and grapples, as if I was in a fever dream of Soul Calibur meets Dark Souls. Add elemental magic and boom – chaos! You can even call in artillery strikes mid-battle. Loved riding horses across medieval terrains. If exploring vast open worlds is your jam, this one’s for you.
— Sid Shuman, somehow surviving all this
Crisol: Theater of Idols – Mark your calendars for 2025
Imagine surviving a steampunk Spain with just your blood as ammo. Okay, don’t imagine it too hard. But Crisol takes you there. It’s from Blumhouse Games and Vermila Studios. Your blood’s literally your bullets, and I barely scraped through with a drop left. Protagonist Gabriel can siphon blood from enemies – seriously, this game is wild. It’s a twisted, gritty walk through Tormentosa. Get ready for Gabriel’s world, whatever’s left of it by then.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 – August 5
Just in time with the upcoming movie, Sega and CyberConnect2 bring us another piece of Demon Slayer magic on PS5. Covering epic anime arcs, it’s got intense battles and, I kid you not, over 40 fighters. The combat system’s revamped, so lace up for some fierce showdowns. Perfect for anime enthusiasts – or if you secretly think you’re a Demon Slayer (not judging).

Directive 8020 – Out October 2
Supermassive Games, the masters of horror, are taking us to space. Let’s just say it’s not a vacation spot. Choices, clones, and chaos – it’s like those nightmares you want to wake up from but can’t. Every decision twists the storyline. Tried playing it twice and stumbled upon hidden secrets and violent ends. The Turning Points system? A lifesaver for indecisive folks like me. Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions.
— Kristen Zitani, still sleepless from space horrors
FBC: Firebreak – June 17 kicks off the madness
A Remedy game, so you know it’s gonna be a ride. Think Control meets co-op craziness. On PS5 and PlayStation Plus Extra right out the gate, you and your pals tackle missions, strategize, and kinda channel MacGyver with these Crisis Kits. Played a mission involving sinister sticky notes (yes, really). It’s all about teamwork as you zap and blast your way through scenarios. Expect updates for ages, keeping the chaos fresh.
— Sid Shuman, wannabe sticky note warrior
Grave Seasons – Coming 2025
Farming sims aren’t just cozy, they’re downright deadly now. Blumhouse Games brings us a farming sim with a twist – someone’s a killer. Each game unveils a different suspect, keeping things fresh and nail-biting. I didn’t catch the killer this time, but my curiosity certainly piqued. Ashenridge is waiting, loom under its eerie, horror-laden charm.

Mixtape – A melodic journey launches 2025
Annapurna Interactive and Beethoven & Dinosaur crafted a symphony of nostalgia and friendship. You explore life’s memories with protagonist Stacy Rockford, weaving through a soulful trek of music and memories. Got my heartstrings all tangled up. You’ll jam to tunes that unlock memories – some sweet, some not so much. Get ready to nostalgic out.
— Kristen Zitani, currently making my own mixtape
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance – Cut the clutter August 29
Sega’s back with a classic kick. Ninja vibes all the way. Joe Musashi’s fight against ENE Corp is legendary, with new paths unlocked by honing abilities and skills. It’s got a retro soul but feels super fresh. Had a blast dodging, slicing, and perfecting those ninja moves. Boss battles? Talk about edge-of-seat.
— O’Dell Harmon Jr., could be a ninja now
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – The fast lane opens September 25
Sega and Sonic Team return with a racer that’s got fans buzzing. Sonic, Miku, and more in one game? Plus, a crazy warping mechanic that keeps it spicy. Races are unique – the chatter, world shifting, and character mash-ups make every lap a thrill. And it’s not just for Sonic lovers; even non-diehards will appreciate its genius racing vibe.
— O’Dell Harmon Jr., dreaming of finishing first
So there you have it, a wild ride through some of the most exciting future PS5 games. Buckle up and keep an eye out for these gems.
